Maroon Bells Sunrise
The Maroon Bells is a mountain in the Elk Mountains near Aspen, Colorado. Maroon Peak (left background) is 14,156 ft and ranks as the 27th tallest mountain in Colorado. North Maroon Peak (center foreground) has an elevation of 14,014 feet.
Maroon Lake (9,580’) provides one of the most memorable scenes in the Rockies. The lake occupies a basin that was sculpted by Ice Age glaciers and later dammed by landside and rock fall debris from the steep slopes above the valley floor.
